Hart Energy notes the northward push of operators, such as EOG Resources, SM Energy Company Energy, and Callon Petroleum, into Dawson and Borden counties (TX) within the Midland Basin.

The expansion from the basin-centered, unconventional Wolfcamp and Spraberry formations opens new opportunities for targeting shallower reservoirs using modern drilling and completion techniques. The Spraberry and Jo Mill formations within the northern Midland Basin counties can be characterized as submarine fan complexes with challenging sequences of leveed and distributed channel systems.

NuTech’s Integrated Reservoir Analytics Database (IRAD) includes ready-to-go petrophysical analyses and property maps of the Spraberry to the Woodford in the Midland Basin, giving a strong starting point to delineate productive intervals and new opportunities.
